Hopefully, UA-Lite tickets will be
1. Mileage and status earning.
2. Mix and match with UA int'l and domestic flights.
3. Valid for lounge access if international.
4. Able to use exisiting UA counters, self-check-in, and premier facilities.
The reason I'm asking is that if 50% (?) of UA routes go to UA-lite, then many of us will have no UA-choice but to fly them to some destinations - because clearly the current shedules will shrink.
I fear UA will copy what *A British Midland International (BMI) did in creating a BMI-Baby airline. BMI-Baby has entirely separate facilities, and no FF benefits. This might not be a big problem if only a small percentage of UA routes are converted. But BMI transferred many routes wholesale to BMI-Baby service, and I think UA might do the same. Therefore, the chance to earn M+ benefits and use Premier facilties will be lost for many customers.
