I think they have different dummy numbers for regular members/MVP/MVPG. I used a BTT to DCA in January and was upgraded both ways, outbound I think was at 72hrs and return was at the gate.
The dummy MP #s retain status. IIRC, 9999999 is non-elite, 6666666 is MVP, and I don't know what MVPG is - perhaps 3333333?
