For the Philly tourist sites, the Hampton is pretty well located in the middle of everything. 1 to 1.5 miles to Independence National Historical Park and the Liberty Bell and maybe the same to the Art Museum (Rocky Steps). It is certainly walkable. Market Street is the main drag but depending on how tired you are and time of day, taxis are pretty easy for getting around and there are lots of busses, but I have never used them.
