Non-resident, coming in on a visa-on-arrival. But I live in Bangkok despite the visa status, own 2 Thai-registered companies (not going into how you can own companies but still can't give yourself residency without x number of staff, x amount of turnover, etc), and these items are things I bought for my apartment in Kuwait which I don't want to sell/give away when they can fit happily in my suitcases and would be useful to put in my house in BKK.
8 years ago when I applied for residency, even then bringing in personal belongings to the country the official way was expensive tax-wise and time-consuming, despite all the stuff being old and anything valuable having their original receipts (and not getting into how the storage at the port managed to damage a piano beyond repair

). Which is why I can't be bothered to try to do it the right way again... seems wasn't worth it the last time... which is also why I intend to make several trips back and forth over the coming months to repatriate all my belongings to Thailand.
