If your going to be there for a few days or more, you're going to quickly run out of things to do/see at the Opry Hotel. So even though a car may be more expensive, it might be a better alternative (at least for the couple of days your wife is with you.) Nashville has a lot to do and see, and most of it won't be right there at the hotel, the mall, or in the shops next to the hotel.
