I never take anything with me, that I am not prepared to lose.
I work on the basis if customs don't pinch it, the shopkeeper's assistant will or the bag snatcher will have a go at it.
I confused BKK customs once bringing in Vegemite, a thick black molasses based spread, Australians love on their toast. I am sure they wanted to take it but couldn't work out if it would be any good as axle grease. But all customs are a gamble. A friend in Indonesia wanted a dinner set, now that caused a huge problems, why I don't know, but the worse are our own home grown variety. One month they let everything through, then the next they advise that's not allowed. Last month passengers from four aircrafts were held up, whilst we were all checked for something or other.
