I'm planning a short trip to Palm Springs / Joshua Tree National Park in July, and since every place will be cheap anyway then, we want to stay at the most luxurious / nicest place. It doesn't really matter if we're in PS, Rancho Mirage, Palm Desert, Indian Wells, etc. Reading reviews hasn't helped me determine the best place -- people hate and love the same places. I know the La Quinta and Hyatt Grand Champions are the Virtuoso properties...but are they the best?

We don't golf and won't use spa services...but will use room service, hotel restaurants, and want good housekeeping -- it will be my husband and I with our 4-month old baby. So important is room size, room comfort, good pool, easy to get around, etc.

Suggestions / experiences welcome!
