Agree. I think UA will be MORE generous to top Elites come February 2003 than they were in February 2002. And 8 x SWU means they can count on you booking at least 4 round trips, probably It'l ones, if nothing else.
I flew as a top Elite for years with CO during their Chapter 11 in the 1990s, and One Pass had GREAT offers for Elites then.
United now really need to offer
MORE reasons for existing top tiers to fly them on revenue tickets, not less.
Spider .... I doubt many if any here can evidence a case where trying to use a SWU from Oz-USA where the upgrade did
not clear at the gate. There are nearly 100 C and F seats on each 747, and 2 flights a day, and I can't recall a report where an upgrade using a SWU did NOT clear.
