Interesting request by the GA handling UA481 (MHT-ORD) this evening.
Just prior to boarding, the GA makes an announcement regarding the "Give Feedback Visit www.ualsurvey.com" website listed on the boarding passes.
The agent explicitly states that UAL management is planning on parking a "significant portion" of their "not very fuel efficient" 737 fleet. The agent also states that UAL management is planning on cutting 10 of the "line stations" similar MHT. Agent goes on to mention that MHT has "reasonable yields" despite the significant WN presence at MHT and that UA averages an 87% load factor out of MHT.
The agent then alludes that UAL might transition MHT to an all-express station since the Airbus fleet (remember that the agent says that UA is parking a "significant portion" of their 737 fleet) can't operate in and out of certain smaller airports like MHT. I find this to be ludicrous as I've been on many of UA's A320's and A319's on the MHT-ORD-MHT route.
So, in order to "help keep the big jets at Manchester," to prevent the agent from driving to Boston for work, and to prevent passengers from driving to Boston to fly out, passengers should visit
www.ualsurvey.com and provide feedback to "help keep the big jets at Manchester."
Interesting.
