samftla, Which airport ATMs didn't work for you? As mentioned earlier, Banco do Brasil and HBSC upstairs are OK.

I've noticed on one machine in Rio, I had to go through 2 pages of Portuguese before getting an English option. I've also seen machines that asked me to select the correct network. Maybe you accidentally did something to get a bad transaction (???)
