Jeez, the follow-ups to my post are amazing. I was making a POINT; of COURSE I'm not going to engage in a physical altercation. DUH!

Having said that, I do stand by my assertion that I'm going to use any physical/size means at my disposal to make sure that my place in the queue to get on the plane is not compromised. No, *I'm* not going to "cut the line" to get on ahead of you (I play fair), nor am I going to move anyone else's bag to accommodate mine (again, fairness), but I'm not going to let anyone else do it to me either.

As I stated elsewhere in this thread and others, it is sad but true that this is what The War for Overhead Storage has come to. And I think we all agree that it truly s*cks that it's come to this.
