I seem to have a sense that there might be away to find out if you have been upgraded before reaching the location?

I am running around 80 % on upgrades to suites over ten years as a Plat. I never know what I am getting until I check in.Is there a way or a "plan' to achive getting an upgrade, or, knowing what you may get?

For what its wirth here is my strategy:

I make my reservation, find special request area, add note that I would appreciate any Plat. upgrade........Book it.

On checking in I hand the desk my Starwood CC and my Plat Card.. and ask a question about club, etc.

If no upgrade mentioned I will ask if we have recieved a Plat. upgrade?
(This question has gotten me, "Oh let me check that", Oh yes,etc,etc", Oh we are completly full tonight"and so on.......but...I found it opens a door that may seem to be shut)

My wife loves to say"Oh, the SPG floor ?Then no upgrade tonight?

On the whole we are happy with our general treatment.........BUT......always interested in being enlightened as to how to improve our track record.
