Continental Airlines Responds to ATSB Decision to Deny United Air Lines Loan Guarantee

HOUSTON, Dec. 4 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ --

Continental Airlines (NYSE: CAL - News) today issued the following statement in response to the Air Transportation Stabilization Board's decision to deny a federal loan guarantee for United Air Lines:

"The U.S. government did the right thing for the taxpayers and for competition by letting the marketplace determine winners and losers."

Of all airlines, Continental says this. Over the years, they (Continental) have probably been U.S. Bankruptcy Court's best customer. They probably have a whole building wing in a courthouse set-up for them already. I bet they'll be paying another visit to them soon too.
