Build up those orphaned mile accounts for Hilton use

Don't know what to do with some of those orphaned miles?

For those of you with orphaned miles in American AAdvantage or Delta SkyMiles (and other ff programs that allow Reward Exchange with Hilton HHonors), consider using each of your orphaned miles accounts as the account of choice until you build up round numbers of 5,000, 10,000 etc orphaned miles. Then transfer them to Hilton HHonors for reward stays. Once you have topped up one orphan mile account you can switch to crediting them to another orphan mile account or to your regular airline account.

Most of us don't need the miles in our regular airline accounts, so it is a good way to make the miles work a little harder for us in our orphan accounts.

You get 500 airline miles per stay and it doesn't take long to top up your orphaned miles accounts. With most of the participating airlines now doing a 2:1 exchange, it means you are at least getting some value for those orphaned miles. 5,000 miles transfers to 10,000 HHonors points.
