I flew SBA to BOS not long ago and connected through LAX. Checked a three-pack (shipper) of wine which I happened to watch them take off of the AE flight while I was sitting on the bus that takes you in from the remote terminal. Darned if he didn't HURL that thing like it was a discus. (perfect shape) This despite it saying "FRAGILE" all over it. Must have gone flying 30 feet. I was fuming but by some miracle none of the bottles broke. I watched this continue with all sorts of other baggage. This went beyond not making an effort to care for checked items-- they seemed to be actively trying to destroy things.
