At first I was angry that I didn't see this line of thought coming back at me, but then again, it's totally acceptable. I also thought at first that there was snark to be had in the response, but upon rereading I see that isn't the case. Foreign nationals traveling in the US should have no expectations regarding courtesy towards military members.
