Poipu's a great location...prefer it to North Shore although NS nice for a day or two. In Poipu we prefer Shipwreck Beach which has a Hyatt and a few condo projects. We've always had great luck with suite-paradise.com (no, I don't work for them and am not promoting them...just passing along our good experiences). we also like the west side of the island, the quiet bqeaches just past Waimea Town. next time Mrs jacknyoc and I visit, we'll spend a few days in the Hanalei area and week or so in Poipu...figuring that's a nice way to experience both (they've got a unique feel) without having to do the drive. regardless of where you go on Kauai, it's truly a wonderful place. aloha...
