In the US I have switched to the google maps, find a florist near their address, and call directly. Instead of the same 10 choices you get with any of the nationwide places, you can discuss exactly what you want, what they have, what price, etc.

And there's little chance of a miss delivery or anything.

If the person likes the flowers, they go on a list to use again in the future.

I couldn't recommend any of the chains I have not had problems with in the past.
