ok the results are in: not a complete disaster but a little too close for comfort.

about an hour into the outbound the FA asked if there was a doctor on board... at that point i thought i was in for some trouble, having to explain to a GA wherever we diverted why i needed to go back to ATL first thing in the morning instead of my destination of DEN. Turned out OK though, we pressed on to DEN and never saw any ambulance or anything, false alarm i guess.

Then I check in for the return redeye and when i ask about the upgrade the GA says not a chance... 9 GM's in front of me and only a couple of seats. Oh well I had snagged an exit row window just in case anyway. And then the real fun... ladies and gentlemen we'll be approx 40 mins delayed while they work a maintenance issue. Not too thrilled about this considering i just came in on that very same jet, guess the captain wrote something up that he didn't like. The maintenance techs did well though and were dead on with the 40 min estimate.

next thing you know i wake up to a nice landing in ATL. Definately got a funny look from the captain on the way out, must have thought he was having deja vu
