Every time I check in for domestic flights they insert that red PRIORITY or yellow/orange FIRST flag with my luggage destination tag, why?

Are there U.S. airports that treat these tags with any “priority?” On international flights I will say it helps ensure my bag is one of the first to be offloaded, but on domestic flights it nothing more than a waste! My bag suffers the same holes, and scrapes as any bag, it is relegated to the same abuse given to everyone else and it never pokes its head out of the baggage claim conveyor belt first-that’s for sure. Are these tags anything more than decorations for us, or are there some domestic stations that treat these diffently?
