You can also email US customer service and ask them if the flight will get miles. The reason for this: you have a shot that someone who doesn't know saying "we award miles for our AC partners flights" (I'm not sure they really read letters - I think they're keyword scanned and bulk emailed with responses with the only check being before "send" is hit with little thought going into them) If you get that in writing, then you have a leg to stand on with US if they don't post the miles after flight. It's a crapshoot, but for 8,000 miles it may be worth it.
