My recent experience on US -

Pros:
More miles than AC, as you usually need a longer routing.
Non-existent service, which I actually view as superior to 'rude service'.
Comparable prices to AC

Cons:
Absolutely ancient, poorly maintained aircraft
Delays
Really awful onboard catering options
