You are flying non-hub routes so your upgrade percentage is higher. People who have to route through hubs have much worse luck. That's why people complain.
I'm going through hubs, too. I rarely choose direct flights because they earn fewer MQMs. I go through CVG, ATL, & JFK and still get upgraded. Of course, the direct flights have a higher percentage of upgrades.
