The discussions was originally about revitailsing Blue, or attracting leisure travellers which led to talking about "Blue+" product (loads of Y travel) which led to people debating the benefits and how it would devalue Silver/Gold. I agree with your point entirely helahela.

On another point, it would be interesting to see the stats on "Eurocheat" Status vs. "Y-Up" Status vs. UK Status and how much each travellers use lounges/benefits and fly with BA etc. BA probably knows them all, and only feels its advantageous to change the Blue tier (and get rid of the LHR-BAH-DOH tier points benefit)and stick to the status quo with the rest. Ultimately I reckon its not a significant number that does the larger tier-point runs using sly methods from flyertalk to gain tier points ......
