I'd try the n/s on AV but short of that, Copa is the best option. PTY will be a fairly straight forward connection but last time I went through there, the airport literally had nothing to eat except a hot dog stand (IIRC, I don't remember find anything else and I can promise I looked but this was 2-3 years ago).

There's a handful of gates and more Duty Free shops than the airport malls in Singapore and Dubai (ok maybe not, but a restaurant would be nice).
