So, in future, how should I synch Outlook in my computers? That is, how do I manage the Export and Import procedures so that I update my existing Personal Folder without creating new ones.

The part I do understand is that, when I import, I want to avoid importing duplicate files.
Here's a good resource for Outlook; www.slipstick.com . Personally, I've been syncing Outlook for years by first manually copying the files. I have moved my Outlook files into a folder in "My Documents" (XP) or "Documents" (Vista) instead of the buried path that is standard. After you do this the first time, OUtlook will squawk it can't find them but you "browse" to the new location once and Outlook will find them every time afterward. For the past few years I use a Microsoft PowerToy called SyncToy. This will automatically copy the newest file over the oldest on two machines connected on a network. You can also set it up to copy from one computer to another all the time, no matter which is newer. I have a "master" OUtlook file on a desktop and sync up my laptop with that 98% of the time. Returning from a trip where my laptop is substantially updated, I go the other way with the sync. Simple. Do a search for MS Powertools or SyncToy. IF you have a lot of digital music or pictures, SyncToy is the best thing around for them, too. Free--forgot to mention that.
