I am also booking a trip to Hawaii.

I wanted to book an extra seat for myself so that I would not inconvenience or encroach on anyone else. I usually do this on long haul flights anyway, but usually buy with an airline.

So log in, put in my information, get all the way through it and then it says that I cannot do it because the extra seat needs a whole different name. Grr! It is me. So I call Expedia's 800 number, they do not have a work around for this. Nada. Fine.

I take the information I find on Expedia, and I call United. Any issues? None. Very friendly, very professional. All my needs were met promptly, and it was so nice to talk to a human who knew what they were doing. I didn't even mind paying the fee for dealing with her.

Expedia lost more than the airline tickets. They lost an 11 night hotel stay in Hawaii, an 11 day car rental and the airline tickets. You can do the math. No small chunk of change. We shop with our conscience and our common sense, something clearly lacking at Expedia.com.
