This reminds me of a situation where the FA asked me to change seats in F. I did as a courtesy. My laptop bag was under the F seat in front of me, but I was now moved to row 1. There was no room in the overhead, and the FA wouldn't help me find a place and demanded that I gate check it. Mind you it had 2 laptops. Luckily I had a co-worker in Y that I walked back to, and had them put it under their seat. I still have to say that I wasn't too happy.
