I hear you, and agree...I can't find anything in the COC that states UA's policy on cncl of duplicate space.

As to a month being premature....what is that booking curve for that city pair, and all possible connections over that city pair? As UA sells tickets 330 day in advance, the last month is actually not all that early, as it is over 90% complete in terms of abolute booking possibilities. I would be willing to bet that in many markets, at least 80% of the bookings are complete 1 month prior to dptr. Peak periods like holidays and to some leisure markets (as well as some Intl flights) I think would be in this category, while many business only markets most likely book up closer to departure.

Remember, that fares increase in most markets as days before departure decrease. The cheapest fares in many markets must be bought at the minimum of 21 days, so 30 days is well within that booking window. It also isn't that they may need THAT space as an aircraft is full, but maybe your spacce is the space that causes the next person to have to buy up to another inventory bucket.

There are alot of "maybes" and "ifs" but the systems are not in place for just your single seat, but for the 10's of millions of reservations that are taken each year.

It still stinks, and I believe there should be some notice as to this policy in the CoC. I thought there was in the past, but I don't see any such statement now.
