It's been an ongoing problem this weekend. I've reported it in the System Timing Out/Slowness thread.

I suspect all the similar issues popping up over the past weekend (can't sent PM, Subscription notification delay,...etc) are all siblings to the general "system performance" problems. Plus all the problems seem to be "highly active" at the turn of each month, especially during that particular weekend.
