How long does it take to clear customs on wed. at 830pm?

AM screwed me and is willing to rebook my flight to CUN through MEX with only a one hour connection. since its not legal in their system, i will be on my own if i get stuck in MEX.

do any CO'ers who frequent MEX know how long it may take me to clear and re-check? i wont check bags.

should i even risk it?
