IME when you cancel a non-refundable ticket the value remains on the original PNR.

You must rebook travel by calling up CO and referencing that PNR. A change fee will then be collected and travel can only be for the originally ticketed passenger.

Any remaining funds will be issued as a CO.com ETC that can be used by anyone for up to 1 year and will retain all residual value until used up.
