I also have bought tickets on-line from the TrenItalia website with my Visa card issued by a US bank on several ocassions. I even bought two train tickets last week for a trip in June, no problem at all. I also happened to buy three tickets on AirOne flights with the same credit card on-line. I think that the transaction called up the "visa verisign" webpage for authorization during the purchase but I don't recall exactly.
