It looks like we'll just have to buy the tickets after we arrive in Italy. I hope they'll accept our credit cards there. It is very frustrating. We were hoping to get Amica fares with the 20% discount. But those will probably be gone by the time we get there in June.

I don't know what the problem is with Italian transporation companies, but we had the same problem trying to purchase plane tickets on AirOne. Tried multiple cards, all denied. We were able to call them, however, and they told us that they would hold our reservation, and we could pay at the airport when we arrive. It's a hassle, but at least they had a workable solution.

I cannot even contact Trenitalia because their call center only accepts calls from "identifiable foreign numbers", whatever THAT means.
