All airlines, including Southwest, plan on passengers not showing up. However, I think it would be nice if you can cancel your reservation, so that the seat can be freed up sooner (and your own credit freed up sooner too).

Did you check in online? If you didn't, the gate agent should be able to tell that you are not showing up for the flight.
