Another reason to do this, especially at smaller clubs, is that "swipes matter." The more cards that are swiped, the more a club is used. This increases the value of the club and helps longevity. Obviously this won't matter at LAX, likely no issue at BOS. I'm SJC-based. I always swipe upon return (if they're open).
