Yes, but my whole point is, how does Raffles know how hard it is for the OP to spend £x per annum on his card? It is qutie possible that Raffles knows more about the OP's personal circumstances that was apparent to me, of course.

The OP did acually make a comment about the card being not accepted in some places, which I was trying to address, admittedly by way of a roundabout example. If that issue hadn't been raised in the very first sentence of this thread, then perhaps I wouldn't have "waffled on" about it.


To spell it out a bit more, it definitely isn't the case that Amex is only accepted widely in first-world/affluent countries, or that Amex is always harder to use that Visa or Mastercard.
