Yeah, I think things will turn out OK.

It's not actually my ticket... it's for friends coming to visit me. I have their confirmation number, and I was able to see their reservation on united.com. Everything looks good, it all says confirmed, they have ticket numebrs, and seats have been assigned. On the e-receipt page, it shows the fare in GBP and the taxes in USD, along with the credit card information and their UK address. I'll call them and tell them to check that the charge appears on their credit card statement.

Just for information, for two people, the price was $1550 on the US site, and (the equivalent of) $2200 on the UK site for the same flights.
