If one has the time, you can usually go cheaper to CGN and take a LCC from there. Especially to the usually outrageous summer destinations in the south a la ATH, BCN, etc...!

By the way: I think I misused a word: I didn't mean to say there were a lot of commercials, there were more adds in print media and the airport of Cologne was full of it! The big parking garage on the way to the Autobahn when you get to/from the airport had a full size outside add for almost a year!
