Any idea of what the availability of such *A awards (long haul on partner) is in general ? Are UA trying to hold back spending on other airlines or can you book whatever's available from the other airlines award inventory ?
UA uses STARNET blocking. You cannot always get an award on a *A carrier that would be available with their miles. A Search will turn up many threads on this
