Design a fabulous glass, plate, (no longer ashtrays), brand them (in subtle way) and quietly turn a blind eye when they start to walk out the door by ensuring there is a plentiful stock of replacements at hand.

I've long held that this makes sense from a marketing standpoint. Generally applicable to hotels and airlines... if it bears the brand it has potential as a promotional piece. On the other hand, if it doesn't, then it's just blatant theft.
