I think he did use the overhead as well for a rollerboard, but can't be sure.

I should have just moved his bag w/o being nice enough to ask him, or perhaps spilled a nice glass of wine on his nice leather, or better yet, on his nice white shirt...

I know that 319/320 legroom is pretty marginal in F but I had a middle seat in E-, so I took the upgrade (I was so amazed that the upgrade actually cleared that I had to take it . FWIW, the flight was otherwise very pleasant -- excellent FA, good meal, and Ch. 9 made for a good flight.
