I read the article. It was an article that reported that AMR and Airbus were squabbling with each other about how pilots were trained. In other words, it was much ado over nothing!
As Larry has informed you, the rudder was used at a speed where it was safe to do so. He's the one with the ATP, not us, so I think we should take his word for it.
And I concur with DHAST's comments about the reporting that the media does about aviation. I may have only scratched the surface when it comes to aviation knowledge, but I can tell you that there is a LOT of misinformation out there.
