About 2 mins walk from the hotel is the Sao Conrado Fashion Mall - a bit of an upmarket shopping mall (although it does have a McDonalds) that will certainly have a couple of ATMīs but I canīt say I went looking for one there.
When I was there in November the ATM in the lobby didn't accept my Visa (although the sign says it should), and neither did the ATMs in the Fashion Mall. When we went to Ipanema we tried three ATMs before we found one that worked. People complain about the ATMs in Argentina but in my experience Brazil is far far worse.
