It all depends on weather! Nature is lovely but not so good on a wet cold July day in Ireland. If you like remoteness and scenery, I'd suggest you head to Galway (you could possibly stop off at Bunratty Castle on the way) and go out to the Aran Islands - hire a bicycle and pedal your way around. If the wether isn't so flash then there would be other options in/from Galway. Getting to Dublin fron Galway would be quite straightforward and much shorter than if you head down to Kerry which is spectacular on a good day but not so good in the lashings of rain.
