Called again and was transferred to tech support. A very nice person there said there was a glitch and that I was not on it. By the time she got me on the list, at least one additional person had been upgraded and first was booked full.

Despite this issue where you weren't added to the airport upgrade standby list, I can assure you that you've always been on the list of Elites used by our Elite Upgrade Automation (EUA), which handles all confirmed upgrades up to 3 hours before departure. The customers that have been upgraded on this Houston (IAH) to Indianapolis (IND) flight so far by EUA all have a higher upgrade priority than you.
