UA - US code share update

United issued the following press release today:

UNITED AND US AIRWAYS MOVE FORWARD WITH CODESHARING AGREEMENT

Department of Transportation and Justice Department complete thorough
review;
Customers will enjoy benefits beginning Oct. 14


CHICAGO, Oct. 2, 2002 -- United Airlines (NYSE: UAL) and US Airways
today announced they will move forward with their proposed codesharing
agreement first announced on July 24. The Department of Transportation
(DOT) today notified both carriers that is has concluded its review of
the agreement.

"This is great news for United and a win for travelers," said Glenn
Tilton, United's chairman, president and chief executive officer. "This
agreement is a good strategic fit for both carriers, and our customers
will enjoy expanded service options and frequent-flyer benefits, as well
as access to each carrier's airport clubs. We appreciate the tremendous
support we received from individuals and businesses throughout the
nation, as well as from our own employees, who understand the
significant revenue benefits this arrangement can bring to United
Airlines."

US Airways President and Chief Executive Officer David Siegel added:
"Our complementary networks - with US Airways' extensive service in the
eastern U.S. and rapidly growing system in the Caribbean, and United's
presence in the western U.S., Europe, Asia and Latin America - will
provide passengers with unparalleled choices and convenience."

United and US Airways customers can begin enjoying access to each
carriers' airport clubs on Oct. 14. This includes access to United's
Red Carpet Clubs(sm) and US Airways Club locations. US Airways Club
members traveling on a same-day United ticket will have Red Carpet Club
access and vice versa.

Additionally, in the coming months, United and US Airways customers will
be able to earn and redeem miles in each carrier's frequent-flyer
programs. Code share flights will be phased in starting in the first
quarter of 2003.
