Since this is booked on two separate tickets, unfortunately there is no insurance coverage that would cover this situation. Fortunately, most airlines (UA and US are two) have "flat tire rules" that will allow you to be accommodated on later flights (even if next day) on a standby basis should you miss your confirmed flight at show up at the ticket counter within two hours of your original departure time.
