AA talked a good game about saving TWA jobs, but they really screwed the TWA employees when they took over - particularly the flight attendants where the TWA seniority list was tacked on to the bottom of the AA seniority list. As a result of what happened in that merger the laws regarding seniority lists and takeovers were changed to make it near impossible to do that in future mergers.
