Just received a cheque for 80 GBP on my door step yesterday from KLM due to the mishandling of my luggage at AMS causing my luggage to be delayed overnight.

I purchased a few essentials in WAW, but no more than around 20 GBP and sent in the receipt. I got the shock of my life to receive a cheque for 80 GBP, but as they stated it was around equivalent to 100 EUR which I was promised that I could spend by the handling agent in WAW.

My advice is if you get any promises, take peoples names, keep all receipts and send it recorded delivery and send it to KLM Baggage Claims. Don't be shocked if a response takes up to 2 months.

The first 'cash' gesture from KLM in ages. I also received a TDC for 25 EUR from the handling agent expiring on 1 Aug... Air France paid for a nice samsonite case (twice) a good few years ago now - but thats a different story!
